Students are invited to participate in MTAC-sponsored musicales several times per year. Please see the Calendar for specific program themes and dates.

Teachers are responsible for upholding the Policy for Student Performances.

Policy for Student Performances

  1. All applications and fees must be submitted three weeks before the event, online at www.mtactv.org. Please check the Calendar for the exact deadline and performance dates.
  2. Musicale fees are $10 per student. For ensembles, each performing student pays the $10 fee. There are no refunds. Students should make checks payable to their teacher and teachers make one payment to MTAC-TV. Fees must be postmarked or paid via Zelle by the registration deadlines. Your registrations are not considered complete until allfees are received.
  3. Payments can be made by check, made out to: “MTAC Temecula Valley” by sending it to the Treasurer (Rachael Wunsch-Brown).  Teachers may also make payments using Zelle: use the branch’s email, mtac.tv@gmail.com to make transfers. For more information on using Zelle, visit https://www.zellepay.com. A Media Release Form is included online, and consent is given upon registration.
  4. The time limit for a single student or ensemble is 8 minutes.
  5. All vocalists must memorize their music. Solo pianists are not required to memorize their music.
  6. Original music is required for all performed pieces (no photocopies) in keeping with copyright laws.
  7. Instrumental repertoire must be from classical literature with the exceptions of the Holiday, Halloween-themed, and Popular Musicales, and the choices for seniors participating on the Senior Showcase.
  8. Vocal repertoire must be from classical or musical theater literature with the exception of repertoire for the Halloween-themed, Holiday, and the Popular Musicales, and the choices for seniors participating on the Senior Showcase.
  9. Recitals will be about an hour or less in length and students are required to stay for the entire recital as a courtesy to all performers.
  10. All communication with students and parents will be the teacher’s responsibility. Questions and comments pertaining to any phase of an event must be conducted between teacher and event chairperson only.
  11. We will try to accommodate time requests for recitals, which will be on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you have more than 4 students performing, it may be necessary to divide them among the programs.
  12. Dress code: Teachers are responsible to enforce the dress code with all their students. Students not in accordance with the dress code may be excluded from performing. For all events, students should wear "dressy" clothes. No T-shirts, hoodies, jeans, sportswear, flip-flops, tennis shoes, midriffs showing, extremely short skirts, plunging necklines, etc. Ties are not required but are encouraged for boys. For the Halloween Program, general Musicale dress guidelines are still enforced. However, students may wear their Halloween costumes. We are emphasizing "fun" costumes, none that are gory, sexually explicit, no cross-dressing, no masks, and no makeup that might get spread on the piano. Students must present their costumes to their teachers for approval before the day of the program.
  13. Teachers with 5 or more students must stay and announce programs and assist with the event. Teachers are highly encouraged to attend all programs in which they have students performing.
  14. Students should check in with the recital chairperson 15 minutes before the scheduled recital start time.
  15. To be fair to all, there will be no practicing before performances.
  16. There will be NO flash photography, and parents and students may only take photos or videos of their own children/students. Parents may not photograph other people’s children. There will be a designated chair for photography. Please no walking around or standing in back to photograph or take videos.
  17. Parents must be responsible for disruptive children. Please take any disruptive children out of the room, and only leave between performances.
